No better way to spend an afternoon than sipping Italian made wines with the view from Piccione Vineyards. The winery overlooks the vast grape vines and in the distance the Blue Ridge Mountains. The outdoor patio area was tented and fire was amazing. I would take marshmallows next time to roast by the fire. Derek and Palmer were great hosts. Although they didn't offer tastings at this time they did offer flights, which I prefer. I enjoyed the Pinot Grigio and Charles was partial to the Cabernet Sauvignon as were the other red wine drinkers at our table. I would love to revisit Piccione in the fall. I bet the leaf colors are breathtaking. Ample space for kids to play and run around.
