Lazy Elm, easily accessible from I-40, is a peaceful and relaxing way to spend an afternoon. Don't be fooled by thinking commercial wineries are better than smaller vineyards. Quite the opposite is true. Chris, the owner, was very accommodating when hosting our group. He welcomed us to his winery room where we shared a picnic lunch. Jessica did our wine tasting. She was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I am not typically a red wine drinker, but found myself enjoying the reds. My favorite red was the Damn Yankee (estate). It was a cold snowy day when we went and I will definitely be back in warmer weather to enjoy the views under their covered tables. Lazy Elm has Morganton ties. The winery gets their apples from this area.
