Davesté Vineyards was the first winery to Iredell County. Dave and Ester DeFehr’s vision began in 2003 and in 2005 planted their first vines. 2006 brought their first harvest with 500 cases and they haven’t stopped yet. They recently brought on the Carrick family as business partners who are wine enthusiasts themselves. This winery is minimalist in its winemaking, growing or local sourcing its grapes. Their white wines are made in stainless steel, so it has some of my favorite whites. The winery itself is breathtaking. We visited before the pandemic and in the heat of the summer. They have lots of outside seating with fans in the pavilion area. We took a picnic lunch. Great venue for weddings, showers or meeting friends. They are one of the few wineries we have visited who stay open later into the evening. If you are looking for that perfect photo backdrop Davesté has several spots to capture that memorable photo. Tastings are done inside by personable and knowledgeable staff. The tasting room is filled with beautiful art in various mediums by local artists.
