Childress Winery is one of the nicest venues we have visited. Wide open spaces to spread out and enjoy wine with friends. We visited last summer and indulged in a fantastic lunch at The Bistro located in The Pavilion overlooking the grounds. After lunch we sat outside under one of the ample shaded areas and enjoyed the Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 20 and the RCR 18. Childress Vineyards is the creation of Richard Childress, NASCAR driver and owner. Traveling throughout the California wine country he visited numerous wineries and developed a passion for great wine. In 2004 he brought his dream to reality. Childress wines have won many awards. The estate is over 70 acres, and the view is absolutely stunning. Unlike most wineries, Childress Vineyards is opening daily. As much as I enjoy taking a picnic lunch to wineries I would be remiss if I didn’t encourage dining at the Bistro. The food is amazing. Reservations are required on the weekend nights. It is opened daily 10-4pm. You can order take out from The Bistro and sit on the grounds. Gourmet snacks and cheeses can be purchased as well. This winery is the perfect combination of wine, food and views. Just add you and your friends for great memories.
