Caramel French Toast

This is a caramel version of the classic French Toast. Beware it is very gooey and delicious. It must be eaten immediately. If you let it cool, the gooey delicious part will harden and become too sticky.

Caramel French Toast


  • Spray 13*9 galss baking dish 

  • In a medium saucepan, combine all the topping ingredients and mix well.

  • Cook over medium heat until smooth.  Stir constantly.  DO NOT BOIL.  Spread topping in baking dish.

  • Beat eggs in a shallow bowl.  Add milk, vanilla and salt.  Beat well.  Dip each slice in egg mixture.  Place slices in pan over topping. 

  • Cover and refrigerate overnight or 8 hours.

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

  • Uncover and bake 30 minutes or until bubbly and toast is golden brown.

  • Let stand 1 minute and flip onto a large serving platter.

  • Scrap any topping in baking dish onto toast.

  • Serve immediately.  IMPORTANT


  • Topping

  • 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar

  • 6 Tbs. butter

  • 1/3 cup whipping cream

  • 1 Tbs. light corn syrup

  • French Toast

  • 4 eggs

  • 1/2 cup of whole milk

  • 2 tsp. vanilla

  • 1/4 tsp. salt

  • 8 (1 inch thick) slices of french bread
