No, it's not really a week, but it is a day. Monday, February 22 is National Margarita Day. In honor of this special day, we will release a margarita recipe each day for the entire week. There is some dispute about who invented the margarita. The most widely accepted theory is that a restaurant owner named Carlos Herrara invented the drink in 1938 for a customer who was allergic to most spirits except tequila. The basic margarita recipe can be adjusted to include a variety of tastes and preferences based on the individual or the occasion.
Here are a few tips to make the perfect margarita:
-keep tequila in the freezer
-use fresh lime juice
-mix lime zest in the salted rim
-shake never stir
-avoid premade mixers loaded with sugar, preservatives, and extra calories
We will kick off the week with a classic Margarita. This recipe is NOT for the faint of heart. Proceed with caution. Check out the recipe
For a "skinny" version trade out the triple sec for orange juice. As with any alcoholic beverage, enjoy a good drink in moderation.
